Juan Carlos Tolosa is an argentinian composer, pianist and conductor born in Córdoba on october 2nd of 1966.

He began his musical studies in 1972 in Domingo Zipoli Institute in Córdoba.
Having abandoned his law studies, he continued his musical studies to focus on musical composition at the National University of Córdoba (Argentina) between 1986 and 1989. In 1989, he went to Europe and settled in Brussels.
He studied at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles where he was awarded in composition classes Paul- Baudouin Michel and Daniel Capelletti in orchestration, form, in harmony and music theory . Parallel to the conservatory , attended regularly between 1990 and 1998 to the meetings and workshops composition of contemporary music festival Ars Musica with the intervention of Luciano Berio, Witold Lutoslawski , György Ligeti, Pierre Boulez , Karlheinz Stockhausen , Brian Ferneyhough , Pascal Dusapin , Iannis Xenakis , Magnus Lindberg, Luca Francesconi and Wolfgang Rihm.

He founded the Black Jackets Company ( 1995 ) and then Black Jackets Ensemble (1996 ) with Pierre Kolp , Francis Ubertelli and David Nunez.
His music was performed in several countries including Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, Japan, Luxembourg, Spain, Belgium, Germany as part of prestigious festivals such as Ars Musica (Belgium ) or Festival of Contemporary Music at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.

Besides his musical work and musical theater, he collaborated with choreographers as Tolosa Marian Del Valle (Spain), Barbara Manzetti(Italy) and Gabriela Carrizo (Argentina) as well as the filmmakers like Giovanni Cioni(Italy) and Paco Aragon (Spain). Since 1998 he teaches Aesthetics of Art and Music of the twentieth century at the Institut Jaques- Dalcroze (Bruxelle). Since 2000 is the director of Black Jackets Ensemble (Brussels).

Actually, besides his composing career he teaches composition at La Colmena Music School as well as Orchestration in the Composition B.A. at National University of Córdoba
